Legazpi City, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa was at Albay in Bicol Region to attend the 115th Anniversary of Police Service as a guest of honor on Friday, September 23.
PNP Chief Bato Dela Rosa led the oath-taking ceremonies for the members of Kasurog Kontra Droga, and warned members of the PNP force to stop any involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Dela Rosa expressed his sorrow over the involvement of politicians in the illegal drugs, mentioning town mayors of Lanao who won the local elections because of narco-funds.
These drug lords, Dela Rosa said, were operating as a semi-drug cartel.
Speaking on the recent Senate hearing regarding on the extra judicial killings, Dela Rosa stated that he was sure Edgar Matobato, the alleged witness presented by Senator Leila de Lima was a false witness.
Dela Rosa added that he never knew the aforementioned state witness before, and that had he indeed crossed paths with the self-confessed hired killer of “Davao Death Squad” in the past, he would have surely killed him.
During his visit to the Legazpi City, the Philippine National Police chief awarded police officers and members of Bicol region’s PNP, inaugurated the administrative building of the police regional headquarters at the Camp General Simeon Ola. Dela Rosa also distributed a number of motorcycles to be used by cops during the operations in different police stations in the Bicol Region.
Dela Rosa also presented the guns and ammunition seized by the Bicol region PNP during the last couple of months’ checkpoints and accomplishments of the Oplan Tokhang and Double Barrel.
